Jorda, Enrique (1911–1996)

Spanish-born US conductor. He studied at Madrid and conducted the Symphony Orchestra there 1940–45. He worked with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra 1948–54, and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra 1954–63 (including the first performance in 1962 of Roy Harris's 8th symphony). He conducted the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra 1970–75 and the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra 1982–84.
