Jordan, Irene (1919– )

US soprano. She studied in New York and made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1946, as Mallika in Lakmé. She retrained as a soprano and sang Donna Anna at Chicago in 1954. She sang at the New York City Opera from 1957 and returned to the Metropolitan Opera House the same year as the Queen of the Night. She also sang as Aida, Lady Macbeth, Butterfly, and Euryanthe.
