Jordan, Neil (1950- )

Irish film director, screenwriter, and novelist. He made the gritty crime thriller Mona Lisa (1986) in England. The Crying Game (1992), a subtle story involving an IRA provisional, won an Academy Award for best screenplay. In 1999 he directed an adaptation of Graham Greene's The End of the Affair.

Jordan made his first film, the fantasy-tinged thriller Angel (1982), in Ireland, followed by the fantasy-dominated The Company of Wolves (1984). He subsequently made the horror fantasy adaptation Interview with the Vampire (1994) and the Irish historical biopic Michael Collins (1996).

Jordan has published several books, including the short-story collection Night in Tunisia (1978).
