McKenna, Joseph (1843–1926)

US Supreme Court justice. He served the California state legislature (1875–76) and the US House of Representatives (1884–92), resigning to accept a federal judgeship. He served as US attorney general (1897) and was appointed by President William McKinley to the US Supreme Court (1898–1925). McKenna was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Led by president and CEO Joseph McKenna and artistic director Leif Bjaland, the Florida West Coast Symphony is the oldest continuing orchestra in Florida, and was recently ranked second among 33 Florida musical organizations by the grants panel of the Florida Arts Cultural Institutions Program.
Joseph McKenna, in his excellent book Central Birmingham Pubs Volume II, described it as a "low-roofed building with a central pointed gable" and it had "six unequal sized and oddshaped windows".
