Joubert, Piet (Petrus Jacobus) (1831-1900)

Boer general in South Africa. He opposed British annexation of the Transvaal 1877, proclaimed its independence in 1880, led the Boer forces in the First South African War against the British 1880-81, defeated Jameson in 1896, and fought in the Second South African War.
