Joyner-Kersee, Jackie (1962– )

US track and field athlete. One of the greatest female athletes in history. She was the first person to score more than 7,000 points in the heptathlon, and won seven Olympic and world titles in the heptathlon and long jump. At the Seoul Olympics in 1988 she set a new world record in the heptathlon of 7,291 points.
