Judah, Theodore

Judah, Theodore (Dehone) (1826–1863)

US engineer and railway builder. Travelling in the California mountains, he developed the idea of a transcontinental railway. With others, he organized the Central Pacific Railroad Company in 1861. He died of typhoid fever before the project was completed.

He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He studied engineering and worked for the railways of the Connecticut Valley area until 1854. He became the chief engineer of the Sacramento Valley Railroad.
