juggling

The art of throwing and catching several objects in a continuous motion. The earliest evidence is a carving on the tomb of an unknown Egyptian prince, dated between 1994-1781 BC, showing women juggling. The world record for the greatest number of objects juggled is 13 rings, 12 balls, or nine clubs.

Patterns of juggling include the shower, where the objects move round in a circle; the cascade, where objects move in a figure of eight as the hands alternate in throwing objects to each other; and the fountain where each hand simultaneously juggles objects in a vertically circular motion.
