Sigmoid sinus thrombosis associated with internal jugular venous occlusion: Direct thrombolytic treatment. One of 2 blood cultures was positive for Staphylococcus epidermidis, as were cultures from femoral and jugular venous lines. The increased blood in the ventricles increases the pressures in the chambers of the heart and drives blood backward into the lungs (producing pulmonary edema) and other areas (often producing the characteristic jugular venous distention and peripheral edema of CHF). |
