Jung, Manfred (1945– )

German tenor. He studied in Essen and was a member of the Bayreuth chorus before his Dortmund debut in 1974. He sang the Götterdämmerung Siegfried at Bayreuth in 1977, and appeared in the TV version of the Chéreau-Boulez Ring cycle. He took the same role in the Solti-Hall Bayreuth Ring in 1983. He made his New York Metropolitan Opera House debut in 1981, and appeared as Tristan and Parsifal at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 1980. He sang Mime at the 1994 Bayreuth Festival.
