Juniata River

River in south-central Pennsylvania, which flows for a distance of 153 km/95 mi before joining the Susquehanna River just above Duncannon.

The Juniata River is formed just northwest of Huntingdon by the junction of the Little Juniata River and the Frankstown Branch of the Juniata. It follows a mainly easterly course, passing through Huntingdon, Mount Union, and Lewistown. The 169 km/105 mi-long Raystown Branch of the Juniata rises in the Allegheny Mountains in the east of Somerset County, and winds east past Bedford for 19 km/12 mi before turning north-northeast and snaking through Raystown Lake to enter the Juniata River just below Huntingdon.
