Kálmán, Imre (1882–1953)

Hungarian composer. He had great success with the operetta Tatárjárás (1908; produced in New York and elsewhere as The Gay Hussars).

He studied in Budapest, then lived in Vienna, Austria, until 1938. He moved to Paris, France, in 1939, and in 1940 emigrated to the USA, where he lived in New York and Hollywood.
