teleprinterTransmitting and receiving device used in telecommunications to handle coded messages. Teleprinters are automatic typewriters keyed telegraphically to convert typed words into electrical signals (using a five-unit Baudot code, see baud) at the transmitting end, and signals into typed words at the receiving end.
