Kahane, Jeffrey (Alan) (1956– )

US pianist. He studied in San Francisco and at the Juilliard School, New York. He made his debut in San Francisco in 1973 and in 1977 was runner-up in the Clara Haskil Competition; in 1983 he won the Rubinstein International Competition. He made his debut in New York in 1983 and in London in 1985, and played in Bernstein's The Age of Anxiety at the 1991 BBC Prom concerts in London. He has made frequent appearances with the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestras, the Pittsburgh Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and performed quintets with the Tokyo String Quartet.
