Kaká (1982– )

Brazilian footballer, who was named World Player of the Year in 2007. Playing most frequently as an attacking midfielder, he has won numerous individual, domestic, and international honours.

After joining São Paulo at the age of eight, he made his debut with the first team in 2001 at the age of 18 and scored 30 goals in 77 appearances. He signed for AC Milan in 2003 and helped them win the league title in his first year there. In 2007 his performances at Milan helped win the UEFA Champions League and saw him named by UEFA as the Club Footballer of the Year. Later that year he added European Footballer of the Year honours to his World Player of the Year title.

A devout Christian from an early age, he made his debut for Brazil in January 2002 against Bolivia and appeared briefly in Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning run. He also played in the 2006 World Cup where Brazil reached the quarterfinals.

His younger brother Digão has also played for Milan.
