Czech composer. He studied at the Prague Academy and Charles University. He was manager of the music department at Prague Radio 1953–72.

Works

Orchestral

five symphonies (1956, 1961, 1971, 1972, 1976); concerto for orchestra (1966), and nine instrumental concertos.

Chamber

two nonets, two wind quintets, seven string quartets; sonatas for violin, cello, clarinet, and trombone (1967–82); Incantations for 13 wind instruments (1988).

Other

ballet on Alice in Wonderland, Two Worlds (1980).
