Kalkbrenner, Friedrich (Wilhelm Michael) (1785–1849)

German pianist, teacher, and composer. He studied under his father, Christian Kalkbrenner (1755–1806), and at the Paris Conservatory, France. He made his first public appearance in Vienna, Austria, in 1803, returning to Paris in 1806. He lived in London, England, as a teacher and performer 1814–23 and then settled in Paris as a member of the piano firm of Pleyel, but continued to teach and perform.

four piano concertos (1823–35), concerto for two pianos; piano septet, sextet and quintet; piano school with studies appended, sonatas, variations and numerous other works for piano.
