Kalliwoda, Johan Vaclav (1801–1866)

Czech violinist and composer. He studied at the Prague Conservatory 1811–17 and played in the orchestra 1817–22. He then became music director to Prince Fürstenberg at Donaueschingen, Germany, until his retirement in 1866.

Works

the opera Blanka; seven symphonies (1826–43); concertinos for violin, for clarinet, and other instruments; three string quartets; violin duets, violin pieces.
