Kamenev, Lev Borisovich (1883-1936)Russian leader of the Bolshevik movement after 1917 who, with Stalin and Zinovyev, formed a ruling triumvirate in the USSR after Lenin's death in 1924. His alignment with the Trotskyists led to his dismissal from office and from the Communist Party by Stalin in 1926. Arrested in 1934 after Kirov's assassination, Kamenev was secretly tried and sentenced, then retried, condemned, and shot in 1936 for allegedly plotting to murder Stalin.
