Kamensk-Uralski

Industrial city in Sverdlovsk oblast (region) of the Russian Federation, situated in the foothills east of the central Urals at the confluence of the rivers Kamensk and Iset; population (1996 est) 195,000. Kamensk-Uralski, which lies 95 km/59 mi southeast of Yekaterinburg, is an important manufacturing centre, producing metals (particularly aluminium), machine tools, and pipes.

The city was founded (as Kamensk) in 1682. In 1701, the first state iron-foundry in the Urals was established here.
