Kamenz

Town in the Land (administrative region) of Saxony, Germany, on the River Schwarze Elster, 56 km/35 mi northeast of Dresden; population (1994) 17,300. It has textile and glass industries. The dramatist and critic Gotthold Lessing was born here in 1729.
