Kamienna Góra| Industrial town (coal, textiles, engineering) in Jelenia Góra province, Poland, on the River Bóbra at the foot of the Karkonosze mountains, 64 km/40 mi southwest of Wrocław; population (1990) 23,500. Formerly in Lower Silesia, the town was the scene of two battles between Prussian and Austrian troops: the Prussians were victorious 1745, defeated 1760. The town became part of Poland 1945. |
