Kandi

Town in northern Benin, 550 km/345 mi north of Cotonou on the southern margins of the fertile Niger Plains; population (1992) 74,200. The town is on the main commercial route from Cotonou to Niamey in Niger. Kandi is the centre of an agricultural region producing cotton, groundnuts, sheep and cattle.
