Kane County

County in northeastern Illinois; area 1,357 sq km/524 sq mi; population (1990) 317,500. Its capital is Geneva. Most of the population lives in a number of communities clustered in the eastern part of the county, many of which are old industrial river ports. These include Aurora, Elgin, Batavia, and St Charles. The rest of the county is mainly agricultural, producing corn, fruit, and vegetables.

It is traversed in the east by the Fox River.
