Kankakee County

County in northeastern Illinois; area 1,759 sq km/679 sq mi; population (1990) 96,300. Its capital is Kankakee. The eastern border is the Indiana state boundary. The county is dominated economically by Kankakee and its two suburbs, Bradley and Bourbonnais. The rest of the county lies within a rich corn belt, with soybeans as the other important crop.

It is drained by the Iroquois and Kankakee rivers.
