Kanturk

Market town in northwest County Cork, Republic of Ireland; population (2002) 1,650. It is an important dairying centre. A fortified house was built here by the MacDonagh family in the 17th century. The rivers Dalua and Allow, which feature in Edmund Spenser's poem The Faerie Queene, converge at Kanturk.
