Kaplan, Mark (1953– )

US violinist. He studied at Juilliard School, New York and won the 1973 Leventritt Competition. Concerts followed with the Cleveland, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. He made his European debut in 1980, with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Klaus Tennstedt and gave the first European performance of Neikrug's concerto, with the Hallé Orchestra in 1986. He plays in a piano trio with David Golub and Colin Carr.
