Kappel

Village in the Swiss canton of Zürich, 7 km/4 mi north of Zug; population (1995) 846. The religious reformer Ulrich Zwingli was killed in battle here in 1531, while engaged in a struggle against those Swiss cantons that had not accepted the Protestant Reformation.
