Karaikal

Small port in India, 250 km/155 mi south of Chennai (formerly Madras), at the mouth of the right branch of the Cauvery delta. On a tract of land acquired by the French 1739, it was transferred to India 1954, confirmed by treaty 1956. It is part of the Union Territory of Puducherry.

The state also has minor ports at Rameswaram, Kanyakumari, Cuddalore, Colachel, Karaikal, Pamban and Valinokkan.
It is approximately 100 km from Pondicherry Karaikal, about 130 km south of Pondicherry, and almost a twin of Pondicherry where its geography is concerned.
These stations will be located at Karwar, Ratnagiri, Vadinar, Gopalpur, Minicoy, Androth, Karaikal, Hutbay and Nizamapatnam.
