Karaikal
| Small port in India, 250 km/155 mi south of Chennai (formerly Madras), at the mouth of the right branch of the Cauvery delta. On a tract of land acquired by the French 1739, it was transferred to India 1954, confirmed by treaty 1956. It is part of the Union Territory of Puducherry. |
