Karan, Donna (1948– )

US fashion designer and fashion label since 1984. Karan became popular in the 1980s for her executive workwear as well as trendy, wearable sportswear in bright colours, and tight, clingy clothes such as the bodysuit.

In 1989 she launched a ready-to-wear line, DKNY. During the early 1990s she moved away from the structured look of the 1980s to produce lighter, casual, and more fluid outfits.
