Kaye, Nora

Kaye, Nora (1920–1987)

US ballet dancer. She was known for her dramatic performances of Anthony Tudor's choreography, especially Pillar of Fire 1942, and except for a few years at New York City Ballet (1951–54), she performed with Ballet Theatre, of which she served as associate artistic director 1977–83.

She was born in New York City. After her training with the Metropolitan Opera Company's dance corps, she performed in musical comedies in the late 1930s and became a founding member of Ballet Theatre in 1939. She was executive or coproducer of seven films including The Turning Point 1977.
