Kearton, Richard (1862–1928)

British naturalist and author of numerous illustrated books on birds. Among these are British Birds' Nests, 1895, Birds' Nests, Eggs and Egg-collecting, 1896, and A Naturalist's Pilgrimage, 1926.

Kearton was born into a farming family at Thwaite-in-Swaledale, Yorkshire, and himself became a farmer. His other books include With Nature and a Camera, 1897, Wild Life at Home, 1899, Our Rarer British Breeding Birds, 1900, Wonders of Wild Nature, 1915, and Wild Bird Adventures, 1923.
