Keaton, Diane (1946- )

US film actor and director. Keaton made her name in the 1970s, playing Kay Corleone in the gangster dramas The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather, Part II (1974), as well as starring opposite Woody Allen in a string of his comic feature films, including Play it Again, Sam (1972), Sleeper (1973), and Manhattan (1979). Her role as the eccentric heroine in his Annie Hall (1977) earned her an Academy Award, and cemented her celebrity. Much of her subsequent career has been dominated by similar comic roles, notably in Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) and First Wives Club (1996).

Keaton was born in Los Angeles, California. Among her other acting credits are Reds (1981), The Little Drummer Girl (1984), and Marvin's Room (1996). Keaton has also directed, working initially in television on China Beach and Twin Peaks, before making her feature film debut with Unstrung Heroes (1995).
