Keeshan, Bob

Keeshan, Bob (1927–2003)

US television producer and host. After developing ABC's Time for Fun 1953–55, he produced Captain Kangeroo 1955–85 on CBS, starring as the grandfatherly host who teaches through the humorous antics of animal puppets.

He was born in Lynnbrook, New York. Starting as a National Broadcasting Company page, he later played Clarabell on Howdy, Doody 1947–52. In 1989 he published Growing Up Happy.
