Kefa

Ancient kingdom in southwest Ethiopia. It was overthrown by the Ethiopians in 1897, and its organization and customs radically altered. The ritual surrounding the kingship was elaborate, and possibly connected with that of ancient Egypt and of the modern Bantu kingdoms of Buganda, Bunyoro, Ankole, and Ruanda. It was a famous example of divine kingship. Kefa is now part of the Southern Nation and Nationalities People's Region.

Kefa

Former Ethiopian province, now part of the Southern Nation and Nationalities People's Region. Kefa consists of a large plateau, partly drained by the River Omo. Coffee is indigenous to the region where it grows abundantly. The main town is Maji.
