Kelley, Francis Clement

Kelley, Francis Clement (1870–1948)

Canadian-born US prelate. He founded the Catholic Church Extension Society in 1905 to introduce and maintain Catholicism in rural areas of the USA. He led the society until becoming bishop of Oklahoma in 1924. He became a monsignor in 1915.

He was born on Prince Edward Island. He was a small-town pastor in Michigan and a chaplain during the Spanish-American War.
