In mathematics, action on numbers, matrices, or vectors that combines them to form others. The basic operations on numbers are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Matrices involve the same operations as numbers (under specific conditions), but two different types of multiplication are used for vectors: vector multiplication and scalar multiplication.
