Kendal, Madge (1849–1935)

English actor. By the 1870s she was leading lady at the Haymarket Theatre, appearing principally in the plays of William Shakespeare. In many productions she performed opposite her husband, the actor William Hunter Kendal (1843–1917). She was created DBE in 1926.

Kendal was born in Cleethorpes, Humberside. Her brother was the dramatist Thomas Robertson. She married William Hunter Kendal (properly Grimston) in 1869.
