Kennesaw

City in northwest Georgia, 32 km/20 mi northwest of Atlanta, of which it is a growing outer suburb; population (1990) 8,900.

Kennesaw (also Kenesaw) Mountain, an isolated mountain with two summits, Big Kennesaw (552 m/1,809 ft) and Little Kennesaw (473 m/1,550 ft), to the south, was the scene of a Union victory (June–July 1864) in W T Sherman's advance on Atlanta during the American Civil War. The site is part of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
