Kennett Square

Town in southeastern Pennsylvania, 53 km/33 mi southwest of Philadelphia and 5 km/3 mi north of the Maryland border; population (1990) 5,200. It is a major producer of mushrooms and has some light industry.

It has a significant population of Mexican immigrants, most of whom are pickers in local mushroom houses. Longwood Gardens are nearby, to the northeast.
