Kennewick

City and port in Benton County, southeast Washington, USA, on the Columbia River, 280 km/174 mi southeast of Seattle; population (2000) 54,700. Dams built on the Columbia and Snake rivers provide irrigation for the area's grape, sugar beet, alfalfa, and corn crops. The city is the site of chemical and agricultural processing industries. The Hanford nuclear power station nearby is a major source of employment.

Kennewick was laid out in 1892 and incorporated in 1904.
