Kentner, Louis (1905–1987)

Hungarian-born pianist, a British citizen since 1946. He studied in Budapest and made his debut in 1920. Closely identified with the music of Bartók, he gave the first performance in Hungary of the second piano concerto and took part in the world premiere of the concerto for two pianos and orchestra in London in 1942. With Yehudi Menuhin, his brother-in-law, he gave the first performance of Walton's violin sonata.
