Kerl , Johann Caspar

Kerl (or Keril), Johann Caspar (1627–1693)

German organist and composer. He settled early in Vienna as a pupil of Valentini, and then studied compostion in Rome under Carissimi and probably the organ under Frescobaldi. He worked in the service of the Elector of Bavaria in Munich, 1656–74, but returned to Vienna, as a private teacher, and was appointed court organist there 1677. He returned to Munich in 1684.
