Kerr, Robert Samuel

Kerr, Robert Samuel (1896–1963)

US oil producer, state governor, and US senator. He served as governor of Oklahoma 1943–47 and in the US Senate (Democrat, Oklahoma) 1949–63. Liberal on many issues, he opposed civil-rights legislation and regulation of the oil industry.

He was born in Ada, Oklahoma. He was owner of the Kerr-McGee Oil Company.
