Kerrville

City and administrative headquarters of Kerr County, south-central Texas, on the Guadalupe River, 88 km/55 mi northwest of San Antonio; population (2000) 20,400. It is a resort centre in the Hill Country. The city ships furs, poultry, and dairy goods, builds aircraft, and is a wool and mohair market.

It was founded in 1847. Schreiner College (1923) is here, and there are several hospitals. Spas, holiday ranches, religious camps, and hunting and fishing draw visitors to the area.
