Keshub, Chunder Sen (1838–1884)

Indian religious reformer. He joined the Brahma Samaj movement in 1857, which called for a simplification of Hindu religious ritual, and later became its leader.

Keshub was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) into a high-caste family, and was educated at one of the colleges there. In 1870 he visited England and was warmly welcomed, especially by the Unitarians.
