Dutch pianist and composer. He studied with Willem Pijper and later became professor at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

Works

two symphonies (1929, 1970); choral music; three string quartets (1927-28); a trio for flute, clarinet and bassoon and other chamber music; sonatas for flute, bass clarinet and piano and flute, oboe and piano; a partita for two flutes; four sonatinas, a fugue, etc., for piano; and songs, including settings of Shakespeare sonnets.
