Kety, Seymour Solomon

Kety, Seymour Solomon (1915–2000)

US neuroscientist. In the 1940s he developed the methods for measuring cerebral metabolism and blood flow. In 1953 he and coworkers produced the first autoradiographic images of cerebral blood flow. He also made major contributions in the study of biological aspects of schizophrenia.

He was born in Philadelphia. He spent most of his professional career at the National Institutes of Mental Health, where he became a senior scientist in 1983.
