Kuria Muria Islands

Group of five rocky islands in the Arabian Sea, off the south coast of Oman; area 72 sq km/28 sq mi; population (est) 85. Ceded to Britain in 1854 by the Sultan of Muscat, they became part of the crown colony of Aden. They were ceded to Oman in 1967. The largest island is Hallaniya.
